The MJN-Series is the economical solution for potable water, cooling tower chemical control, industrial water treatment, and deduct metering.   These mechanical flow meters use the multi-jet principle, which has been an internationally-accepted standard for many years. This type of meter is known for its wide range, simplicity, and accuracy in low-quality water.

AG2000-127KENT, WA – Seametrics has released a 12-inch meter in the AG2000 family of flanged magmeters. This magmeter is perfect for irrigation, chemigation, agricultural automation, well usage monitoring, and dairy lagoons.

The AG2000 is a spool-type electromagnetic flow meter for use in irrigation applications in 3” to 12” pipe. With no moving parts, these meters provide unobstructed flow and are resistant to wear from debris found in ground or surface water. Little maintenance is required because there are no bearings to wear out or propellers to stop turning.

Minimal straight pipe requirements allow AG2000 meters to be used in piping configurations where there is little space between the meter and an elbow.

The standard AG2000 is battery powered. Where an external power source is available, the AG2000 can be optionally converted to 8-32 Vdc, with the batteries then serving as back-up to maintain continuous operation in case of power failure. This configuration will prolong battery life indefinitely.

An IP68 version is available for burial or applications where the meter may be under water up to a depth of 3 meters for prolonged periods of time.

The meter comes with built-in pulse output for data logging or telemetry. Several pulse rates are available. An internal data logger is also available for secure flow logging. A Seametrics FT415W or FT420W display can be added if remote rate/total reading is desired, or an AO55W if a (4-20 mA) analog signal is required.

The AG2000 is secured with a seal wire to protect against unauthorized access. The seal can be broken by an authorized agent, to change units of measure, replace the battery pack, or to field-install an optional power/output cable. The cable can be factory or field-installed where external power is available and/or pulse output is needed. An accessory weather guard is available for additional protection in outdoor applications.

Seametrics Supports Smart Irrigation Month

smartirrigationmonthJuly is Smart Irrigation Month, an initiative birthed by the Irrigation Association to increase awareness of the value of water use…and grow demand for water-saving products, practices and services.

Seametrics is proud to support this initiative by providing flow meters for a variety of irrigation applications at an affordable cost with the goal of saving time, saving money, and conserving resources.  We take this a step further by focusing our resources on education about conservation through the articles and infographics posted on our blog.

Our hats are off to others in our industry who are making the effort to make the world a better place by promoting the message of Smart Irrigation Month.  As we work together and dedicate a month to raising awareness, we can start a trickle effect that will make a wave of a difference in the future availability of the world’s most precious resource.

Civil regulation of surface water is increasingly present in many facets of construction previously left to the wisdom of the work party. However, with increasing concerns about the effects of heavy construction equipment and disruptive processes on groundwater, the metering industry benefits while contributing to a cleaner environment.

DWSkid1This photo shows a dewatering skid made by Ground/Water Treatment & Technology. This type of skid is typically used at construction sites to contain, treat, and return contaminated groundwater to a previously uncontaminated state. Two of these skids might be used at a simple treatment site. The first skid uses a simple spillway technique to remove heavy objects, such as dirt and rocks, which can then be scooped out of the skid. The remaining fluid is passed to the second skid as shown. This skid passes the fluid through a Seametrics WMX104-400-11/06, which is used for process control of the filtration equipment in the skid.

DWSkid4The WMX104-series when combined with the optional -11/06 power/output cable is a perfect fit for this type of work. This battery powered model allows continued operation should external power be interrupted, and also allows regulatory agencies to see the meter’s Accumulated Total even after the skid is disconnected from primary power. The cable allows a pulse output and external power input during normal operation, and if required, pulse output during battery operation. Although not shown here, the addition of an optional -127 Internal Data Logger would allow permanent capture of flow data throughout the work history of the skid.

Sometimes it seems Engineers are kind of unsung heroes. They tend to be seen as those with this kind of vision:

But I have the privilege of working with some great engineers much different from those portrayed in this popular (and hilarious!) cartoon series by Scott Adams. Okay, maybe not TOTALLY different, but you know what I mean.

Jim Hitchman is relatively new to Seametrics and is a physicist working as a integral part of the Engineering team. I don’t have to tell you he’s smart…he fits that part of an engineer’s profile to a T…that, and the fact that he has a Dilbert calendar on his desk. Jim has hit the ground running at Seametrics, soaking up information like a sponge and offering valuable solutions. But an almost greater value which Jim has brought to our Engineering team is one of commitment and charisma.

As the deadline for a significant engineering project has come to the horizon, Jim decided that missing that date would not be an option. He made a commitment that he would not shave until that deadline was fulfilled. He partnered with others in this mission, and yesterday I even saw someone from an entirely different department who decided he would join Team Scruffy to support Engineering in their push to the finish.

People like Jim make a tremendous contribution to the positive culture of an organization. I respect the fact that he was able to capture the vision passed on by his leader, take it seriously, and inspire others to do the same.

WaterParkEXsHaving fun is a dirty business…if you are running a water park attraction that is. The children’s wave pool at a major water park attraction in San Antonio is a great way to spend a hot Texas day. Water pumps supply the wave energy, and flow meters are used to pace the disinfection system to….well, we all know what can happen with children in the water.

The water park was originally supplied with another manufacturer’s mechanical flow meters on the pre-filtration and post-filtration pipe. However the normal debris in the water, such as fabric shreds, scrunchies, hair pins, etc., was fouling the meters. On a regular basis, the park staff would wait until the late evening after the park was closed, then shut down the wave pool and go through the painstaking process of dismantling the sensor, carefully removing the offending material from the impeller, and reinstalling the meter. Not an optimal situation, but what to do?

Mike Ferguson of RAM Services in New Waverly TX had the answer – the Seametrics EX82 electromagnetic insertion meter. The park removed the existing sensors and retrofitted the pump system with several EX82 sensors and meter-mounted FT420M flow computers. The park was soon up and running, and with the dramatic reduction in maintenance, the park staff no longer had to miss their evening meal.
